[2007] Temps_sauvages_et_incertains-01Galerie Michel Rein is proud to present the third solo show of Didier Fiúza Faustino from october 20th to december 17h.  Didier Fiúza Faustino has been working for many years on the cusp of art and architecture, between space and sculpture. We know that, with this artist, the said barrier is capable of great contortions  which further aggravate the discomfort of the on straddling in this way. The theme of the exhibition MY CRAFTS is very precisely that of uncertain seating and denied commodities. Ten works made over the last sixteen years, which we have difficulty calling “chairs” as they mishandle not only our bodies but also and foremost the categories established by design theorists and other decorative art specialists. Ten works to be further considered as milestones in Faustino’s work, formations which appeared during his spatial work and were then integrated into this or that installation or associated with this or that building site.

On the occasion of the parisian launch of the collection of Haute Bijouterie designed by Pierre Hardy for Hermès, Didier Fiuza Faustino is invited to conceive the staging of these uniques pieces and to create the « Continuum ». until octobre 8th at Hermès 24 rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré Paris (8ème). Didier Faustino and his Cosmogony installation. The cosmogony is the science of the creation of celestial objects and in the same time the part of the mythologies that tell the birth of the world and men. For his collaboration with Hermès and Pierre Hardy, Didier Fiuza Faustino chose to seize the theme of the new collection of « Haute Bijouterie » that was focused on the expression of time, to design the interior of the Boutique Hermès, with a futuristic atmosphere. With almost twelve boxes that contain the jewels laid out in a perfect circle, Faustino introduces a basic representation of the notion of time.

Didier Fiuza Faustino : Misarchitectures brings together for the first time the entire work of Didier Faustino. Through drawings, photographs and essays this part-monograph part-manifesto explores the ideas that drive Faustino’s architectural and artistic works : the political and ethical conditions for constructing sites and spaces within the socio-cultural layout of the city, and in particular how to critically approach the problem of the body in both private and public space. At the same time,  the book revisits Faustino’s projects – from sculptures and installations, to public art, architectures and books – up to his most recent work, offering new insight into the artist-architect’s perspective. From 12th September 2015 and until 3rd January 2016, MAGASIN, Centre National d’Art contemporain in Grenoble, devotes an individual exhibition to the architect, artist and founder of Bureau des Mésarchitectures. Didier Faustino. A multifaceted blend of work combining architecture, performance, installation, video, design and scenography… This solo show called ‘Des Corps & Des Astres’ (Bodies and Stars), offers an individual as well as collective field. With a critical eye Faustino forms an exhibition structure like an incessant proliferation of shapes spanning the 1700 m2 art centre in Grenoble. These hybrid shapes or narrations question the organisation of social systems that govern exchanges between individuals and hence our ability to perceive the political system. In this profusion of signs, Faustino associates home environments and catastrophic landscapes the transgressive dimension of which affects meanings. Lire la suite…

Artefact of fantasy, Terra Incognita by Didier Faustino for the 140 years of  Topazio establishes a frame of merging an ornemental piece and a fragment of vanity. The baroque trophy and its reflection deforms the image of the spectator. This effect guides our judgement on the field of anxiety, embarrassment, perplexity and paradoxically contemplation. Refering to the “Queer readings”, literature of the 70s, and the writings of Le Marquis de Sade, this work highlights a praise of the transgressive aspect of our pleasures. Lire la suite…
