Given the success of the first small ‘Light Air’ table lamp by Eugeni Quitllet for Kartell, the range has been expanded with the addition of two new wall and hanging lamps. Light Air is a delusive table lamp, a pendant luminaire that defies the laws of gravity, “like a ballerina floating in the air, the most recent Light Air model with a lamp shade cut in the manner of crystal providing even more precious light. A luminous jewel made entirely of plastic,’ according to Eugeni Quitllet.  Lire la suite…

Building on the penetrating-form concept of the Capsula light by Lucie Koldova for Brokis in 2013, the futuristic bell-shaped MONA exemplifies a sensitive beauty found only in smooth glass and soft curves. The LED light source daringly pierces the delicate body of the lamp and illuminates the design’s thrilling tension, while the artist’s distinctive style is reflected in the unexpected combination of materials, generous dimensions, and precise craftsmanship. Mona collection consists from pendant, floor and table lamp. LabLightTable_Vinkel_2
The Lab Light’s success by Andrea Kleinloog for Karakter brought on the desire to make a “youthful” version that could be more successfully (and easily) customized. The starting point was to look at scientific equipment using steel only – allowing for the entire luminaire to be spray painted. The base, stem, lampshade and rotating arm (basically everything) is painted aluminum. The lamp comes with a black 2 m. cord with an on/off switch. Lire la suite…

It is a brand new start for the iconic danish company Lyngby Porcelean. Lyngby was founded in 1936 in Kongens Lyngby, Denmark and manufactured dinnerware, vases and other decorative objects of high quality. A few years ago the brand was revived and it is now one of the strongest lifestyle brands in Scandinavia. The factory managed to leave a large footprint due to its unique and distinctive designs that elegantly combined noble craftsmanship with modern techniques and a focus on form and function. This strong legacy and timelessness is still the cornerstone of the brand and today Lyngby Porcelæn perfectly balances being a heritage brand as well as a sought after lifestyle brand. In the post war era in Denmark, Lyngby Porcelæn was the same size as both Royal Copenhagen and Bing & Grøndahl. Lyngby Porcelæn is again behind the launch of their iconic designs, which are brought back to life with the utmost care and reverence for their place in the history of Danish design. Besides launching these classic designs we also wish to identify and develop designs of today. Lire la suite…

EUGENI QUITLLET BY RAINER HOSCH

Eugeni Quitllet will take over the Centre Pompidou Boutique from September 3rd to october 3rd with a selection from Kartell, Alias, Vondom, Christofle, Ipi ….He likes to define himself as a disonador, a combination of designer and dreamer in Spanish, inventing a future liberated from gravity where he blends digital precision and fluid sinuosity summing up contrasting aesthetics. Born in Ibiza, this industrial dreamer started out observing a strip of rural beach casually become a venue for ultramodern electric music, before growing up in Barcelona, where Gaudi’s wild organic explosive structure rubs shoulders in juxtaposition with the Pavilion by Mies van der Rohe, a rationalist marmoreal landmark located in Catalonia before settling in the United States. Eugeni Quitllet is the pioneering designer of the moment to follow for the best insight to our fast-moving paradoxical era. Lire la suite…
