Borne Béton is a concrete lamp that was designed by Le Corbusier in 1952 for the Projet Unité d’Habitation de Marseille (Housing Unit) and for the Bhakra Dam and Sukhna Dam in India. The architect Didier Fiúza Faustino has been shaking up reality in order to reveal intimacy since 2000. Examples include a passenger compartment for frail bodies undergoing a perilous migratory transit, a tiny basketball court perched mid-air at the end of a sculptural staircase and a three floor building for a single person located on a tiny square metre in the heart of the most expensive cities in the world. Faustino presents solitude among the multitude highlighting the need for community. The classrooms are essentially functional, but this central area has been left empty by the architects to accommodate the hustle and bustle of student life. KH portrëtFrom 2nd December, the Maison du Danemark is hosting the first retrospective devoted to the work of Knud Holscher. A living legend in the world of Danish design, Holscher was born in 1930 and is a trained architect. He worked alongside one of the greatest Danish names in post-war architecture and design, Arne Jacobsen, and was instrumental in design permeating everyday life across Denmark.
