A new modern art venue, the Pierre Arnaud Foundation is opening its doors on the Crans-Montana plateau in the village of Lens. The aim of this organisation is to present temporary, themed exhibitions. It was created in honour of the French industrialist and collector Pierre Arnaud (1922-1996), who was based in Valais. The Foundation is destined to compare Swiss painting with major international trends in painting from 1850 to 1950, creating a junction between western and non-western art from this same period.

1024 architecture (Pierre Schneider and François Wunschel), has designed 24 Lines, an art installation serving as the entrance hall and café for the art centre La Panacée that opened on 22nd June in the middle of Montpellier, on the site of the former Royal College of Medicine.

David Brognon & Stéphanie Rollin win best Pirelli Solo Show. The solo shows present work by established and upcoming artists and are spread throughout the 2 halls of the fair. Galleries have the opportunity to make a distinctive statement by presenting one specific project by an individual artist. This gives the visitor the opportunity to discover the work of an artist at greater depth. David Brognon & Stéphanie Rollin lives between Paris and Luxembourg. Their raw material based on society is often marginal, including the recurring themes of confinement and control. Super-ette produces Didier Faustino’s iconic‘Love me tender’ chair created in 2000. In one go Faustino summarizes his putting of bodies under tension with architecture and design through this chair that is so dangerous that it requires tenderness and gentleness to be handled.

At Design Miami/Basel, then in Paris as of September 8th, Galerie BSL presents ‘Naturoscopie,’ a collection of limited edition pieces created especially for this event by the French designer and interior architect Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance. With this work, the designer is resolutely committed to go beyond a literal transcription of nature to rekindle the impressions and sensations that we all feel in facing certain natural phenomena.

Invited to design a knuckle-duster by duende studio, Didier Faustino has landed the Chip’N Dale project produced with support from the Fonderie Dacheville-Nicol presented at the Galerie Filomena Soares in Lisbon until 10th March 2012. Two knuckle-dusters are linked by a fine aluminium membrane waiting to be broken. These momentarily harmless weapons in close contact are the point of contact between two bodies. Lire la suite…
