American Design by Triode presented by www.thecoolrepublic.com

Triode is the point of reference in Paris for contemporary American design and this spring the gallery is organizing a special online retail event in collaboration with The Cool Republic, the online concept shop for design in France. From February 22-April 22 a selection of objects, lighting and furniture by leading US designers including Apparatus, (image above), Ladies & Gentlemen Studio, Bower, and Rosie Li among others will be available at www.thecoolrepublic.com. This new generation of American designers is frequently producing work by hand in their studios or with a local specialist, maintaining high quality craftsmanship with a strong attention to detail. Materials are often sourced locally or within the USA, and tend to circulate around natural materials like wood, marble, stone, as well as brass and glass. Smartly curated collections that generate continued interest with each look, particularly with lighting, the work is meant to last a lifetime. For the first time in France, Triode is pleased to collaborate with The Cool Republic to offer this exclusive selection of American design for the French market.

Bower is a contemporary design studio based in New York City founded by Danny Giannella and Tammer Hijazi in 2013. Through a free experimental design process they bring unique and unexpected objects into people’s lives. Tammer and Danny love finding an intriguing characteristic in anything from plants and animals, to toys from their childhood and dreaming up completely different functional applications for it, often ending with delightfully surprising results. This process is their happy place, experimenting and exploring a detail that has caught their interest without being sure how it will manifest itself in the end. The spirit of discovery in Danny and Tammer’s process lives though their objects and is felt when people engage with a Bower design.

Apparatus. Born from playful experimentation with vintage lighting components, apparatus is a new york based design studio. aged brass, etched glass, leather, and porcelain are combined to create lighting fixtures that fuse sculptural form with hand-worn materials. the result is a warm glow that is at once timeworn and thoroughly modern.
