Bassam Fellows + Rosi Li + Rich Brilliant Willing chez Triode et KKDC/OBUMEX

BassamFellows Tractor Stools 1

BassamFellows. A little over ten years ago architect Craig Bassam and creative director Scott Fellows began drafting their vision for a new kind of American luxury company.  A genuine, fully integrated lifestyle brand stemming from their shared aesthetic sensibilities, it would encompass architectural projects and interiors as well as impeccably crafted furniture, lifestyle objects and personal accessories.

BassamFellows’ pioneering Craftsman Modern aesthetic, which marries architectural authority with a minimal-artisanal philosophy, was introduced with the debut of the iconic BassamFellows Tractor Stool at the 2003 Salone del Mobile in Milan. From its inception, the company has focused on building relationships with some of the world’s leading craftspeople, whilst forging innovative and intelligent collaborations across the worlds of architecture, branding and design.

Rosi Li. Founded in 2015, Rosie Li Studio is a lighting design practice formed by two unlikely friends: designer Rosie Li and engineer Philip Watkins. Blending graphic elements and geometry, Rosie develops lighting and objects that challenge visual capabilities and the limits of perception. She is fascinated by the relationship between edges, surfaces, and the volumes contained within. Clean lines, pure form and rational design inform her aesthetic. RL Studio forgoes traditional lamp design for building systems driven by science and mathematics, constructing fixtures using modular parts with a focus on simple geometry and pared-down forms. This adaptability allows light fixtures to achieve a sculptural quality by consciously responding to their environments and seamlessly integrating into the surrounding space.

Parts are fabricated in-house or culled from local vendors and meticulously assembled by hand in their Brooklyn studio. Each piece is made to order.  Rosie Li was born in China and emigrated to the United States at age three. Her childhood interests in drawing, painting and sculpting eventually led her to attend Rhode Island School of Design, graduating in 2011 with a BFA in Furniture Design. She debuted her first lighting design, Stella Triangle, through lighting manufacturer Roll & Hill at Milan Design Week 2013. She continues to design, work, and live in Brooklyn, NY.

Rich Brilliant Willing. Theo Richardson, Charles Brill and Alexander Williams founded Rich Brilliant Willing in New York, in 2007. Rich Brilliant Willing designs and manufactures LED fixtures for hospitality, workplace, and residential projects. Driven by technology, simplicity & creativity, the studio merges the industrial and the elegant, engineering warm, dimmable lighting solutions that are as beautiful as they are innovative. The results are intelligent and iconic, simple yet expressive. The inventory ranges from low-key staple pieces—minimalist wall-mounted sconces and ceiling fixtures—to arresting statement pieces that are as sculptural as they are functional. All RBW fixtures are UL listed, built in Brooklyn, and ready within 1 to 3 weeks. Custom pieces are available upon request.

Today, the RBW team includes a global distribution network of partners and a second location, “Suite 707,” a trade-dedicated showroom in Manhattan. The brand’s accolades include a place on Forbes’ 30 under 30 Art & Design list and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair’s Best New Designer Award. The studio has shown in Wallpaper’s Handmade exhibition and two editions of Salone del Mobile’s Euroluce. RBW has also been nominated for the nation’s highest design distinction, the Cooper Hewitt National Design Award.
